APH Hive Helps Users Master the Monarch

As Monarchs begin to soar into classrooms this fall, we’re committed to ensuring that educators have everything they need to empower their students to spread their wings and fly. That’s why the APH Hive is thrilled to introduce “Mastering the Monarch“, a dynamic new course offering 2 hours of ACVREP credit. Alongside this course, the APH Hive also features a new Monarch Professional Community that offers additional resources for using this groundbreaking multiline braille display. Get ready to elevate your teaching and unlock the full potential of the Monarch!  

Mastering the Monarch 

This course offers a series of short video modules exploring the use of the Monarch, guiding participants through navigation, customization, digital resource access, document management, tactile graphics, and mathematical features. It aims to boost proficiency in the use of the Monarch and leverage its capabilities for enhanced braille and tactile literacy. Participants in this course will learn to:  

• Operate the Monarch as a stand-alone device exhibiting skills in navigating and utilizing its key features through demonstrations. 

• Configure and personalize the Monarch’s settings to meet individual user preferences, including selecting braille codes, adjusting user settings, configuring Wi-Fi, and managing updates. 

• Connect the Monarch to and use online services and applications such as BookShare and TGIL. 

• Create, edit, and save documents using the Monarch’s Editor and File Manager.  

• Identify the Monarch features for inputting and interpreting mathematical content and graphs. 

Monarch Professional Community 

In addition to the Mastering the Monarch course, the APH Hive has also created the Monarch Professional Community where users can access a variety of resources that will allow them to use their Monarchs to its fullest potential. The platform contains a variety of content and links to webinars, training videos, reference documents, lessons, activities, and more. This platform will continue to grow and develop over time as more teachers and students provide feedback and recommendations based on their experiences.
