Product Updates and Upgrades!

APH consistently works to not only produce new technology, but to improve what already exists. With technology that is ever-changing, there is always room for improvement, especially after listening to the people who interact with these products each day.  

Crossings with No Traffic Control 

The Crossings with No Traffic Control product is software that provides simulations for users to learn how to approach crossing traffic without traffic control. The software helps individuals to recognize cues and sounds that signal safe traffic practices and create a level of confidence in independent travel. The most exciting change for this product is the price has dropped from $62 to $14. The software has been given a few cosmetic upgrades, and in efforts to decrease the price, headphones are no longer included with the purchase. However, the main goal of this product change was to move the price to a much lower figure. 

 Tactile Demonstration Thermometer  

The Tactile Demonstration Thermometer is a device that allows students to independently practice determining temperature in both Celsius and Fahrenheit. The most exciting change in this product is that not only does it reflect updates to the Nemeth code, but a UEB version is now offered as well. The device also received visual upgrades including higher contrast colors. 

STACS  

STACS, or the Standardized Tactile Augmentative Communication Symbols Kit, is a tactile kit that contains a standard collection of objects and symbols to teach students a wider range of everyday objects. The tactile cards are now APH branded, and the guidebook has been updated to reflect current important objects and symbols for students to recognize. The largest change is that you can now download an accessible version of the guidebook for free. Previously, the braille guidebook used to be a separate purchase of $40. Now all pieces of the product can be obtained for one price.  

The Littlest Pumpkin 

The Little Pumpkin is an ‘On the way to Literacy Book’ that is receiving some exciting updates. The new version is expected to launch in early 2025. The book contains new artwork and binding, so it will be more interesting for sighted peers in student collaboration, and more engaging for students with CVI. There will be a Spanish translation of this book available as well, and customers can expect more accessible books available in Spanish from us in the future.
